でも〜

Formationでも + sentence

でも opens a sentence that pushes back on the one before it. It is casual and conversational, where しかし is what you would write. Use it when the contrast deserves a sentence of its own rather than a clause.

   But you're going to owe me one.

2. でも、男性だんせいはああいうのは気に入らきにいらないようね。

   But maybe guys don't like them.

3. でも週しゅうに２回かい、夜勤やきんしなくちゃいけないんだ。

   But I have to take night shifts twice a week.

4. でも、それで士気しきが下さがっては本末転倒ほんまつてんとうではないかと。

   But, if by that, morale drops wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the exercise?
