N4 grammar

〜のに

noni

Even though, and it bothers me

Formation

のに marks a contrast that surprises or annoys the speaker, which is what separates it from a plain but. I studied hard, and still failed. Left at the end of a sentence it turns into a complaint or a regret all on its own.
