〜た

Formationverb + た / だ (same stem as the て-form)

た is the past tense with the politeness stripped out, used with friends and inside longer sentences. Plenty of patterns demand it no matter how polite the sentence ends up, so it has to become automatic. The sound changes that produce it are the same ones behind the て form.

1. ヒーターをつけたまま外出がいしゅつした。

   I went out with the heater on.

2. 来くるなといったのにやってきた。

   He came regardless of my instructions.

3. サーカスを見みにみんなくりだした。

   Everyone turned out for the circus.

4. この間かんきみはそう言いったよね。

   You said so the other day, didn't you?

5. 私わたしたちはカヌーで川かわを下くだった。

   We went down a river by canoe.
